Permanent Jewellery care
I hope you love your jewellery. It’s worth bearing in mind that, just as shop-bought pieces can tarnish or occasionally break, permanent jewellery can too if it isn’t looked after properly.
One of the benefits of having it custom-fit is that it sits closer and minimises the risk of snagging from excess dangle — but accidents can still happen.
Some tarnishing is perfectly normal due to oxidation; however, exposure to lotions and potions (including perfume and sunscreen), chlorine, hot tubs and the sea can accelerate and deepen discolouration.
The good news: with a little TLC — a gentle clean and quick polish — your piece will bounce back to its original sparkle.
Follow the aftercare below to help it stay beautiful for years.
To minimise tarnishing, avoid excessive exposure to lotions, potions and chemicals, including body creams, perfume, SPF, chlorine, etc.
Temperature changes and environmental factors may also cause tarnishing. Use the cloth provided in your aftercare pack to polish your permanent jewellery.
For a deeper clean, clean gently with a soft bristle brush and a drop of dish-soap in warm water.
If you needto remove your jewellery for any reason, just snip through the welded jump ring. Nail clippers, strong scissors or wire snippers shoud do the job.
Should your jewellery break at the welded jump ring within 30 days of your original purchase and fitting, I will re-weld it for you free of charge.
Your jewellery is not indestructible. If you snag it hard, there is a risk the chain could break. Take care not to catch your jewellery when removing gloves, socks, when drying after showering, etc.
If you’ve neglected your Elessora polishing cloth and your permanent jewellery has started to look a bit “meh”, all is not lost!
First, try cleaning your piece with good old-fashioned washing up liquid and a soft brush.
If that doesn’t quite do the trick, I highly recommend the Talk of the Town polishing cloths, or Connoisseurs’ Jewellery Cleaning Foam, all available from reputable suppliers.
